What Milling Copra Is

Milling copra is dried coconut kernel produced for one job: going into an oil press. It is not graded on how it looks. It is graded on how much oil a mill can pull out of it and how much moisture it is carrying.

Supreme Oil Industries has manufactured copra at Kangayam, Tirupur district, since 2004. We sun dry it ourselves, on our own yard, from coconut we buy directly from growers nearby.

The Two Numbers a Mill Cares About

Oil content: 62–68%

This is your yield. It varies with the season and the grade, and any supplier who quotes a single fixed figure year-round is guessing.

Moisture: 6% maximum

Above that, copra sweats in storage, grows mould, and loses you oil. It is checked before every batch is packed. This is where most copra deals go wrong, and it is why we hold the number rather than the price.
