FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about our cocopeat, growbags, fiber and exports. Open the FAQ page.

What products does Afsar Coir Exports manufacture and export?

We manufacture and export cocopeat blocks (5kg and 650gm, low EC and high EC), coco chips, coir growbags for hydroponics, coir fiber bales and semi husked coconut. All coir products are made from fresh coconut husks.

Where are your factory and registered office located?

Our factory is at 213/2A Nanjegoundan pudur, Zamin Uthukuli Post, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu 642004. Our registered office is at FF-09, No 392, Thangam Plaza, Dharapuram Road, Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu 641604. Both are shown on Google Maps on our contact page.

What is the difference between low EC and high EC cocopeat?

EC (electrical conductivity) shows the salt level of the medium. Our washed / low EC blocks are washed and dried so that EC stays below 0.50 mS/cm. The high EC grade is the same premium coco peat without that low-EC limit. Tell us your crop and we will recommend the right grade.

How much growing medium does one block make?

A 5kg cocopeat block expands to 80–85 litres once water is added, a 650gm brick expands to 9–10 litres, and a 5kg coco chips block expands to 65–75 litres.

Are your blocks tested, and what is the pH range?

Yes. Our blocks are free from weeds and pathogens and are within standard EC and pH levels. The typical pH is 5.5–6.5 and moisture is a maximum of 15%. Production follows strict procedures at our own factory.

What are the size and loading details of your coir growbags?

Our coir growbags measure 100 × 18 × 16 cm when expanded and weigh 2.8–3.2 kg, with EC below 0.5 mS/cm (1:1.5 ratio). A 40ft container can be loaded with 6300 bags.

What is the loadability of coir fiber bales?

Coir fiber is compressed into strapped bales of 120–150 kg with fiber length of 5–25 cm and moisture of at most 15%. Loadability is not less than 18MT in a 40 HC container. Mattress, mixed, omat and bristle grades are available.

What is the shelf life of your semi husked coconut?

Naturally ripened coconuts weigh 450–650 gm (average 550 gm) with a diameter of 12–15 inches. Shelf life is 60 days for semi husked and 30 days for husked coconut, counted from the date of packing.

Which countries do you export to?

We export to North America, Europe, South Africa, Japan and Australia and serve almost every corner of the globe, with comprehensive after-sales service for every customer.
